I’m finding peace in prayer.

I’m not pretending to be holy and religious.

Because I’m not.

I’m not acting like I go to church and read the Bible.

Because I don’t.

But lately when lying in bed before I go to sleep I’ve been praying.

I think about what I’m grateful for and say thank you.

I think about what I’m sorry for and say sorry.

I think about the things I’d like to change.

It eases my mind and soothes my soul.

It brings me comfort and a sense of peace.

It helps put me to sleep.

When I wake up in the middle of the night, I do it again.

Our minds are stimulated and roam.

We worry and stress ourselves out.

This is a way for me to take control.

I control what I think about and focus on.

I’m choosing something positive and constructive to focus my attention on.

And it helps relax me and put me to sleep.

It’s not an extravagant ritual.

But it is something I can do every night from the comfort of my own bed.

It’s something small I can do to be a better person and live a better life.

It makes a difference.

I feel better for it.

I’ve been sleeping better.

It’s worth it.
