I invest in the S&P 500 index.

It’s Warren Buffett endorsed and approved.

It’s simple.

It’s cost-effective.

It’s accessible and liquid.

It doesn’t require much work.

It offers broad, instant diversification.

It’s an efficient and effective way to own the top businesses in America.

It’s proven.

It works.

But there’s one issue I’ve been thinking about lately.

When I own the whole index, I own companies and industries I don’t believe in.

I own companies I know nothing about in industries I know nothing about.

I own companies I would never invest in directly and individually.

This goes against everything I stand for.

I live intentionally.

I do things I believe in.

I do things for a reason.

I’m selective.

So why am I investing in companies and industries I don’t believe in?

Because it’s easy?

Because I’m lazy?

Because it doesn’t require much time, attention, energy, effort, and thought?

Because it’s safe?

There is a better way.
