My plan was to take 7-10 full days off from running after the Boston Marathon.
After 7 full days off, I tested my body on day 8 and 9.
I’m still not quite ready.
I still have some tenderness and soreness.
My body may take longer to heal than originally and tentatively planned.
As much as I don’t like it and as hard as it is for me, I know the extra recovery days will benefit me in the long run – no pun intended.
I’m listening to my body. I’m practicing discipline and restraint.
I’m getting smarter and wiser. I’m becoming more patient.
I’m learning and growing as a runner and human.
This is not something I would have done in the past.
