Sometimes doing something hard is easier than doing something easy.
Sometimes a hard running workout is easier than an easy run.
Sometimes a hard golf shot is easier than an easy golf shot.
These are stressful situations.
Stressful situations require more attention and energy.
When we go into a stressful situation, we get an adrenaline rush.
We’re more attentive.
That’s how we’re programmed.
We’re more ready mentally. We’re more present and engaged. We’re more there.
We focus more. We concentrate harder. We try harder.
On the other hand, when we do easy things our mind wanders. We go through the motions. We’re scattered and distracted.
Maybe doing hard things is not easier. Maybe we just rise to the occasion and have some natural help from our mind and body.
