I’ve felt severe pain in life.

I lost my mom without getting a chance to say goodbye.

There were days I was so weak and depressed I could hardly get out of bed.

I’ve grown accustomed to pain.

I’m not as susceptible and have built up some immunity and tolerance.

Pain still hurts.

But I’m better equipped to handle it and deal with it.

I think that’s why I’m an endurance athlete.

I know what it’s like to go into a deep, dark place.

That’s an all too familiar place for me.

When I go to that place during a race, I’m somewhat comfortable with it and used to it because I’ve been there before.

When I go to that place, I feel right at home.
