Running the Chicago Marathon reminded me of an important lesson: Run your own race.
Run at your pace.
But it’s easy to get caught up in the hype.
Our energy is pumping. Our emotions are flowing. Our heart is racing. Our adrenaline is rushing.
There are a lot of distractions.
The city. The large crowds. The fans screaming. The music. All of the runners. All of the thoughts running through our head.
People are running faster than us. People are running slower than us. Few to none are running the same pace as us.
Whether you’re running a race or just living life, remember it’s your race and your life.
The world is fighting for our attention. The world wants our time and energy. The world wants us to run on its terms.
You are in control. Stick to your game plan.
Who cares what everybody else is doing. Ignore the distractions.
This is your race. This is your life. Run your race at your pace.
