Don’t judge a book by its cover.
We say not to judge a book by its cover. But we do. I do. I’ve bought books based on their covers.
Whether we like it or not, appearance matters. We judge people. We’re attracted to some people and turned off by others.
In an ideal world, we wouldn’t judge anybody and anything. But we don’t live in an ideal world. We live in the real world.
First impressions matter. We only get one chance to make a first impression.
So do our best to present ourselves well.
We don’t find out if we like a book until we read it. We don’t find out if we like a person until we get to know them.
When we’re reading a book, we don’t think about its cover. When we’re connecting with a human, we’re not as concerned with their appearance.
It’s not the covers of books that we remember. It’s the contents and what we learned.
It’s not somebody’s appearance that we remember. It’s the connection and how they made us feel.
Read the book. Connect with the person. Dig deep. Get below the surface.
Before we judge a book and a person, close our eyes, open our minds, and open our hearts. Get inside. That will tell the story.
