I remember when I had my life planned out.

I constantly planned for, thought about, and worried about the future.

I quickly learned life doesn’t go accordingly to plan.

In my case, it could not have gone much further from plan.

Here’s what I learned:

  1. We constantly change. Life constantly changes.
  2. A change of plans is always part of the plan.
  3. Don’t get attached to anything. Don’t get attached to certain outcomes.
  4. Be adaptable and flexible. Surrender. Submit. Just go with it.

Anymore I have a hard time thinking past today. I know life can change in the blink of an eye. I may not even wake up tomorrow.

Spend some time planning and preparing. Just know that all of the time and energy we spend planning and preparing can go down the drain just like that.

Don’t waste it all. Use most of our time and energy living today.

I’m doing my best to live in the present. I’m not really worried about tomorrow, next week, next month, or next year at this point. I’m doing my best to live and enjoy today.

Winging it feels good. As my dad would say, “fly by the seat of your pants.” That feels good too. Thanks dad.

It’s taken me some time to get here, and let me tell you, it’s a delightful place to be.
